I began my practice in 1998 as a means to decrease stress, make my body feel better, and most importantly, to quit smoking cigarettes. The short story: It worked.
My yoga practice has followed the ups and downs of my life (as all meaningful relationships do): having three amazing children, being a home birth midwife in my community for nearly 15 years, growing a ton of food as an urban farmer, helping my aging parents, teaching yoga (including yoga teacher trainings) for nine years, and most recently, packing up our family and moving to another country during a global pandemic.
I offer Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Chair, Restorative and a non-traditional Ashtanga Primary Series over video (YouTube & Patreon), Zoom and private classes. I am looking forward to the day when we can lay our mats side by side once again!
My teaching style is influenced far more by my time as a midwife than by any specific yoga teacher or lineage.
I have co-written and co-taught a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Jessie Lipkowitz of aUM Yoga Ann Arbor for many years, and together we have trained nearly 250 teachers.
Aside from teaching yoga, I have been married to a fantastic man for over 25 years and together we have 3 amazing children. I love to grow, cook and eat food! I have a soft spot for (yet another cup of) decaf coffee and really lovely dark chocolate. I love teaching yoga and teaching people how to teach yoga! I continue to be a student on this path and my teaching and views continue to evolve as I grow and examine how to not only be a better yoga student and teacher, but also a better human being.
